You don’t want to be constantly making jokes about everything, or show your date how you can inhale spaghetti through your nose. But use gentle humor that does not degrade others and you will lighten the mood and make both of you relax a bit more. Laughing at something you did shows your date you don’t take yourself too seriously, which will make you more fun to be with.
#3 Explore Your Differences
If all you talked about over the first few dates were things you have in common, well, that could get a bit boring. You hopefully love yourself enough, but not so much that you want to date someone just like you. Is your date a painter, or a rock climber, or an avid reader? Ask about these interests, and find out how your date became interested in it, what it is like. Believe me, to show interest in someone else like this will be very attractive to your date. You probably won’t have to call for another date; your date will call you.
Lastly, don’t forget that during the first few dates, try to keep the conversation on the lighter side. Stay away from real personal issues, unless that is how you met. For example, there are dating services for special groups, such as Catholics, Democrats, Republicans, Vegetarians, and almost any other group you can think of. In this case you will probably find these areas of common interest easy to talk about. Other than that, stay away from sensitive topics.
